Art Gallery Circuit: New Product – Cultural Tourism
Beginning on Thursday, September 17, the Dominican Republic will have a new tourism product on offer: the Art Gallery Circuit which will give Dominicans and foreigners the opportunity to visit 19 art galleries and centers in America’s First City.
This is an initiative of the Art Galleries Association of the Dominican Republic (AGA in Spanish) and Tequia Experiences, a tour operator focused on culture. The initiative also has the support of the Tourism Ministry (SECTUR) and the Dominican College of Painting (CODAP in Spanish).

The AGA president said that so far, there are 19 galleries involved in the circuit and are located in Piantini, Evaristo Morales, El Millón, Los Prados, Los Cacicazgos, Arroyo Hondo, Gascue and the Colonial City.

These activities could include, she explained, “exhibitions, guided tours, performances, meetings with artists and roundtables, among other things.”
The participating art galleries will be showing individual as well as one-person shows featuring paintings, photography, sculpture, ceramics, carvings, art objects and installations by the most important masters as well as emerging artists.
The Art Gallery Circuit
The organizers of the Art Gallery Circuit showed their enthusiasm for this project knowing that there will also be a bus service for people wishing to see all the galleries. The shuttle buses will run at twenty- minute intervals providing the public with the opportunity to visit the entire group of galleries and art shows.
“This service, organized by the Tequia Experiences tourism company at a cost of 200 pesos, will give the public the chance to enjoy a pleasant and educational experience in a comfortable and convenient setting. They will be in a position to have a night of culture where they might meet gallery owners, artists and art critics. They can become familiar with different styles of art, contemporary discourse and can participate in the endless raffles, prizes and discounts,” said Ms. Cacahuate.
She added that various bars and restaurants in the areas around the galleries will be offering special menus for the occasion and will be giving discounts and free cocktails to visitors of the galleries.
