Special Supplement “The Republic of Golf” Featured in Major US Golf Magazine

The Ministry of Tourism (SECTUR) launched a special supplement in English in the US-edition of Golf Digest, called “The Republic of Golf” which features the country’s numerous golf courses.

Evelyn Paiewonsky, SECTUR’s Director of E-Marketing released the information saying that the supplement circulated throughout the month of November as an insert in Golf Digest, which has a circulation of 300,000 readers among an upscale audience along the East Coast of the US. They also printed another 20,000 copies of the supplement to be distributed through Tourism Promotion Offices (OPT) abroad, international tourism fairs and the media.

She said the “The Republic of Golf” supplement appearing in Golf Digest has 12 pages describing the endless attractions of the Dominican Republic’s 25 golf courses located in Punta Cana, Bávaro, La Romana, Santo Domingo, Juan Dolio, Puerto Plata, Santiago and Jarabacoa.

The characteristics of each of the courses, such as location, dimension, designer and contact information appear in the supplement as well as beautiful photos and a map of the Dominican Republic which highlights the golf courses.

She explained that Golf Digest is a US magazine with reports and exclusive news stories of interest to golf professionals, amateurs, fans, followers and the press that covers the sport.

Paiewonsky said the Tourism Ministry is committed to the promotion of golf as a complement to other tourism offers in that golf, as a tourist attraction, has experienced the highest growth of all other areas in recent years and that it attracts a high level of tourism as well as well-known course designers and players such as Jack Nicklaus and Pete Dye.

Last month, in November, “World Travel Awards” honored Casa de Campo as the best golf resort with the best golf complexes and service hotels in the world, which confirms the development the Dominican Republic has experienced in this area. Last year, the Dominican Republic was awarded by the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO) as the best golf destination in the Caribbean.
