Action Against Hunger International Donates 45 Tons of Food to Haiti Through the Office of the Dominican First Lady

A donation of 45 tons of food for children and two cars donated by Citroen were brought from France to Haiti by volunteers of the International Foundation of Action Against Hunger (ACF in French) to be transported from the Dominican Republic to neighboring Haiti through the Office of the First Lady under the direction of Margarita Cedeño de Fernández.

Transported on a Boeing operated by Kalitta Air, the aid was received by María Lugo, in charge of Solidarity Donations, who met the plane at the Las Americas International Airport with José Francisco Peña Gómez, and Georges Attal, Dominican presidential advisor in Europe. Their task is to receive and coordinate donations that are arriving in an effort to stem the growing humanitarian crisis in Haiti.

Antoine Lecuona, International Foundation of Action Against Hunger (ACF) volunteer, gave details on the use of four water treatment plants which are capable of processing 5,000 cylinders of water per hour no matter where the water comes from. “It can come from a dirty puddle and they will make it ready for consumption.”

ACF International volunteers Laurent De Boissieu, Cyric Rerrot, Antoine Lecuona and Christian Brandebounger are experts in numerous fields and are bringing their skills to Haiti to install water treatment plants and addition to many other areas that require their collaboration and help.
