Dominican Republic Film Festival Calls for Entries for the Short Film Competition In keeping with contest regulations, the short films must be at least 15 minutes in length. The categories established include fiction, animation, documentary and fantasy films. (Santo Domingo, June 15, 2010) – The Dominican Republic Global Film Festival (DRGFF) called on Dominican filmmakers to enter their work into this year’s II Dominican Short Film Competition where they will have a chance to win among first, second and third prizes. The entry period runs from June 15th and ends on September 15th, 2010. The categories established include fiction, animation, documentary and fantasy films. Out of the total number of participants 11 finalists will be selected and prizes will be awarded to the first three winners. First place winner will receive a video camera and a scholarship to study in Los Angeles and make a short film there under the auspices of the Dominican film production company, Panamericana. Second prize winner will receive an Imac and third prize winner will be given an Ipad. The jury will be made up of national and international experts. Last year, 32 films took part in the first edition of the Dominican Short Film Competition and there was only one winner. Last year’s winning film, “Pedro of Bella Vista and his Dream” (“Pedro de Bella Vista y su sueño”) , will be shown this year at the “New York International Latino Film Festival (NYLIFF).”
