The donation was delivered by Isaac Tsai, Ambassador from Taiwan in the Dominican Republic, to INFOTEP Director General Josefina Pimentel at an event in the National Office which was attended by representatives of Taiwan, the Dominican Ministry of Economy, Planning and Development and INFOTEP officials.

These six new mobile workshops are in addition to the two mobile classrooms that were recently acquired by INFOTEP and will be put into operation in the first trimester of 2011. This brings the number of mobile classrooms to 31 which the institution will be using to expand its services to companies and workers and communities around the country.

Each of the new workshops, which are collapsible and transportable, are expected to serve 1,180 participants annually. Participants can partake in training activities in the areas of plumbing, construction, residential and industrial electrical works, information technology, hotels and tourism industry, baking and dessert making and sewing and home design, among others.

The workshops will be mobilized in various cities and towns around the country in order to meet the demand for technical training which is in keeping with INFOTEP’s goal to meet the productive needs of the nation.

The Taiwanese mission, in addition to its ongoing support for INFOTEP, has been involved in other projects with PROMIPYME to train associations, facilitators and INFOTEP graduates as well as the National Association of Metal and Metallurgical Industries (ASONAMECA) as a way of supporting this conglomerate in the efficient management of the Computerized Numeric Control (CNC) machines.

Other businesses that have received support from this alliance include KDK Industrial, Edelos Industrial, Vigomisa, Global Machinery, Indumeca, Industrial Mechanical Maintenance, S.M.V. Mechanics, Decomisa, Dalza Products, Rodtec Industrial and Acofi Industrial, among others.
