President Fernández Holds Bilateral Meetings at the UN General Assembly Meeting Dominican President Leonel Fernández met with leaders and foreign ministers from different countries around the world who were in New York for the United Nations General Assembly meeting. The President met with world leaders to strengthen relations with the various countries. One of the leaders with whom the President held bilateral talks was the Emir of Qatar, Sheik Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, which gave both leaders the chance to evaluate their country’s agenda and the progress of their relations. Dominican First Lady, Margarita Cedeño de Fernández and the Emir’s wife Sheika Muza Bint Nasser were present at the meeting as was Dominican Foreign Minister Carlos Morales Troncoso. President Fernández also met with Jamaican Prime Minister Bruce Goldin. They discussed putting into effect the EPA commercial treaty among the CARICOM countries. They also talked about the status of a decision to set up a technical work commission. At the above gathering, President Fernández spoke with Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and other Heads of States with whom the Dominican leader held follow-up meetings on important, bilateral projects already in existence. | ||
