Government Guarantees that Cholera Will NOt Affect Tourists

The Dominican government guaranteed that tourists have absolutely nothing to worry about as far as cholera is concerned, according to Tourism Minister, Francisco Javier García. He added that, by order of President  Leonel Fernández, the Ministry of Health and Social Assistance has adopted preventative measures to avoid the spread of cholera in the Dominican Republic.

In addition, Javier García denounced international tourism promotion companies who “have tried to damage the image of the Dominican Republic with the cases of cholera detected in recent days,” according to the Presidential Office of Information, Press and Publicity.

Tourism Minister García stressed that President Fernández is taking special steps to adopt the necessary measures so that tourists can come to the DR and enjoy their stay here with a complete sense of security.

Mr. García spoke on Thursday to journalists at the inauguration of the first phase of the “Jarabacoa Country Club” in La Vega.
