Hollywood actor Sean Penn, currently visiting the Dominican Republic, thanked President Leonel Fernández for his tireless work in the reconstruction of neighboring Haiti.

The President received Sean Penn, who was accompanied by Alastair Lamb and Louise Ivers, in the National Palace.

Penn also praised the Dominican government for the work it is doing on the Dominican-Haitian border to avoid the spread of cholera into the Dominican Republic, according to the Presidential Office of Information, Press and Publicity.

President Fernández offered his guests a luncheon during which they discussed films and cholera, among other issues of interest for the Dominican Republic.

Penn, Lamb, and Ivers, arrived in the National Palace along with Senator Carlos Castillo, from the province of San José de Ocoa, Omar de la Cruz, Yvette Marichal and Yamira Sosa, of the Fundación Global, Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE).
