Ministry of Culture Donates More than 600 Books to the Community of Miches To assure that the more than 1,500 children and young people of Miches, in the province of Seibo, have access to national and international literature, Culture Minister José Rafael Lantigua, donated more than 600 books to the community’s new Rosa Julia de León Library. “so that the young people don’t just have access to the books but also to the voices of the authors who wrote them,” said Minister Lantigua. The Ministry of Culture will facilitate the maintenance of this new cultural space once it begins to function. The Ministry has committed to install various computers “so that the young people don’t just have access to the books but also to the voices of the authors who wrote them,” said Minister Lantigua. This measure will benefit the main educational centers of this area, which includes the following schools: Padre Daniel, Lucas Guives, Los Franceses, the Asfalto, the Javilla and the Padre Daniel Secondary School. The book were received by Miches’s Mayor, Gregorio Aquino, and the area’s Culture Manager, Sélvido Candelaria. The book donation included encyclopedias, novels, short story collections and biographies, among others. Mr. Candelaria thanked the Culture Ministry for the gesture, saying “a book, just one book, is one of the best gifts anyone can give an institution or any person in society.”
