Ministry of Culture Helps Finance Youth Orchestras The Dominican Ministry of Culture (MINC) called on all youth orchestra institutions around the country to present their artistic budgets, for training and research, in order for them to benefit from the financial support available through the “Iberorquestas Juveniles” Cultural Cooperation Program. The initiative is being carried out with the idea of promoting musical encounters, festivals, orchestra competitions, choral groups, chamber music groups, courses, meetings, forums and debates. In addition, the initiative seeks to provide support for music composition, exchange of professors, directors, soloists and musicians. The applications must be ready by no later than April 18th of this year. Assistance in writing and completing the applications is being provided. The applications must be presented to the Deputy Minister of Creativity and Participation of the MINC before May 13th, 2011 in order to be sent on to the Technical Unit of Iberorquestas, or Youth Orchestras, the organization that will decide upon then award the selected projects. Iberorquestas Juveniles was approved by the XVIII Summit of Latin America Heads of State and Government held in San Salvador in October of 2008.
