Singer/Songwriter Martin Valverde Special Guest at International Book Fair’s Musical Gala The Ministry of Culture (MINC) and the General Directors of the Book Fair inaugurated the Vatican and Dominican Catholic Church’s pavilions at the XIV International Book Fair, Santo Domingo 2011. Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi, representative of the Pope, thanked the Book Fair organizers for the love they showed the Holy See representatives and the warm welcome they gave them. Conferences, colloquium, concerts and theater presentations will take place in different spaces and venues throughout the Book Fair. Tomorrow, May 6th, there will be roundtable discussion on the topic of “Cultural History of the Church in Latin America. The Role and Characteristics of the First Evangelists.” S.E.R. Nicolás de Jesús Cardenal López Rodríguez, will be in charge of the discussion, which will take place in the Carlos Piantini Hall of the Eduardo Brito National Theater. The discussion will begin at 6:00 pm. After that at 8 pm, in the same location at the National Theater, the International Book Fair’s Musical Gala will begin. This year, Catholic singer/songwriter Martín Valverde, will perform. The event is open to the public and free of charge. Valverde and his group, Dynamis – comprised of renowned musicians from Argentina, Mexico, Costa Rica and Chile – will carry out their evangelical mission through music. Valverde has made more more than 25 recordings that circulate all over Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe. His musical quality and successful career led Martin Valverde and Dynamis Productions to perform in Rome at Saint Peter’s Square in May 2000 at a canonization ceremony of 27 Mexican saints. This event was part of Mexico’s Jubilee and was presided over by the late Pope John Paul II. Martin Valverde will also give a second performance on Sunday May 8th in the “Luisito Martí” Theater Arena inside the fairgrounds of the Book Fair. | ||
