Ramona Collective Announces “Open Studio 2011”

This cultural event was conceived with the idea of bringing together emerging artists with diverse approaches and discourses into the same space in order to show the personal world of each one of them.

The artistic event will begin on Friday May 13th until Sunday the 15th on Mustafá Kamal Atartuk Street, No. 3, Ensanche.

The Ramona Collective will hold a 3-day cultural event called “Open Studio 2011,” supported by Language Magazine (Revista Lengua), with the participation of 16 talented artists including: Alma Peguero, Alexander Polanco, Arlette Espaillat, Erik Santos, Félix Mercedes, Javier Montero, Joerik Santos, Jonathan Schmidt, Julianny Ariza, MaRe Unidad de Performance, Nathalie Ramírez, Paolat de la Cruz, Roberto Sánchez, Wander Matos and Yoel Bordas.

The artistic event will begin on Friday May 13th until Sunday the 15th on Mustafá Kamal Atartuk Street, No. 3, Ensanche. The combined talent of the Ramona Collective and its invited artists will be on display here through painting, drawing, sculpture, illustration, photography and graffiti. In addition, there will be live music, performance and visual projections, among other expressions of art.

Throughout the three days, the public will have the opportunity to appreciate the processes used by the artists and to understand what inspires them to create their work. Visitors will be able to interact with the artists and purchase original artwork directly from the creators at very reasonable prices.

The Ramona Collective is a group of visual artists living in the Dominican Republic. The Collective was born in 2009 out of a passion for creating projects that provoke positive reactions and that appeal to and involve people. It seeks to promote culture and encourage environmental protection through exhibitions, illustration, storyboards, graphic design, animation, murals, sculpture, product design with reusable materials, art and recycling workshops.
