“Cuaderno de Catarsis” Launched in the Youth Space at the International Book Fair

Cuaderno de Catarsis,” (Catharsis Notebook) a book of poetry by writer and journalist, Alexéi Tellerías, was launched on Sunday at the XIV International Book Fair, Santo Domingo 2011.

The book will now form part of the “Collection of Young Authors” catalogue of the National Publishing Office.

Those in attendance at the book launch included León Félix Batista, Director of the Ministry of Culture’s National Publishing Office; poet Jóvine Bermúdez; singer-songwriter, Claudio Cohén; the poet’s parents Jesús Tellerías and María Díaz Tellerías, as well as dozens of young people and teenagers who filled Youth Space.

The book will now form part of the “Collection of Young Authors” catalogue of the National Publishing Office. Tellerías, in this short book of poetry, seeks to surprise his readers with each inspiration, from the texture of the images to the aroma of the days that turn to night.

Alexéi dedicated this, his first book, to his parents; to the late Silvano Lora, in memoriam, for having lit the flame of poetry; to Ida Hernández de Caamaño and Claudio Cohén.

Toward the end of the event, the author gave a short performance in which he showed the audience the task of writing each of his verses of poetry as a catharsis.

As a journalist and author, Tellerías is part of the Literary Circle of the Institute of Technology of Santo Domingo. He has also belonged to Global Justice organization and has collaborated with various literary magazines.
