Synopsis of “Alejo Bachata”

In search of the ultimate American dream and a better life, Alejo and Maritza, travel to New York illegally. Their fairytale dream turns into a nightmare when they are unable to cover their “coyote” fee. They are forced, by their traffickers, into the dark world of corruption, human trafficking and prostitution. Frustrated by his wife’s kidnapping, Alejo is forced to do what he does NOT do best, “Dance.” Him dancing for his wife’s freedom is much more difficult than he thought. But the Bachata Contest Prize money is the only way he can cover his debt. Can he dance his heart out enough to pay his debt and get his wife back? Will its two left feet and lack of bachata rhythm be a problem? Every step and stumble Alejo makes brings him closer and farther from his wife…………..
