Culture Ministry to Publish Four Books on the Execution of Trujillo The Ministry of Culture (MINC) will publish four new books to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the patriotic deed that took place on May 30, 1961 with the execution of Trujillo. The books will come out under the National Publishing House of the Culture Ministry. The biographical collection, coordinated by historian Bernardo Vega, contains 26 books and is comprised mainly of books that were published outside the country, in exile, and were never seen or circulated here in the DR… With this collection, the MINC seeks to underscore the importance of the liberation struggle, both inside and outside the country, that went on against the Trujillo dictatorship. It also intends to illustrate the bravery and valor of the many men and women, some of whom did not live to enjoy today’s democracy that they helped bring about and who often struggled in anonymity. The biographical collection, coordinated by historian Bernardo Vega, contains 26 books and is comprised mainly of books that were published outside the country, in exile, and were never seen or circulated here in the DR. There are also anti-Trujillo books published by foreigners, which are also unknown in the Dominican Republic. The first four books will be released next Wednesday, June 2 in an event at the Museum of Casas Reales at 6:00 pm. The four books are: “Trujillo: La agonía dominicana” (Trujillo: The Dominican Agony) by Buenaventura Sánchez Feliz; “Yo también acuso” (I too Accuse) by Carmita Landestoy, “La tragedia dominicana y el primer Congreso Ordinario de la C.T.A.L” (The Dominican Tragedy and the First Ordinary Congress of the C.T.A.L) by Isidro Jimenes-Grullón, Juan Bosch and Ángel Miolán and “Un generalísimo”, an unpublished novel by Ángel Miolán. This event is part of the commemorative program to honor the 50th Anniversary of the Patriotic Deed of May 30, 1961. | ||
