Exhibitions for the Whole Family at the VII International Theater Festival The Dominican public will have a unique opportunity to enjoy three different exhibitions about life in the theater and one traveling demonstration of puppets, marionettes and animated figures from around Latin America. The exhibitions are part of the VII International Theater Festival (FITE) Santo Domingo 2011, The exhibitions are part of the VII International Theater Festival (FITE) Santo Domingo 2011, and are organized by the the Ministry of Culture and the Office of National and International Theater Festivals. The first exhibition, called “Huellas de un Maestro” (Footprints of a Master) in honor of Dominican playwright Iván García (to whom the the FITE is dedicated), was inaugurated in the Lobby of the Eduardo Brito National Theater on the June 14th and will run until June 26th. The retrospective features photographs, videos, books, awards, costumes and set designs illustrating the expansive 56 year-career of the Dominican actor, director and playwright. This exhibition will be followed by a photography show, “”Fotos por un tubo,” by the F15 group, featuring the best images of the “Teatro por un tubo 2011” event, held last February in the Guloya Theater. This show was inaugurated on June 15 at the Guloya Theater and will remain open until June 30th. Finally, from Spain, we have the travelling “30 años de Muñecos Animados” (30 Years of Animated Figures) from the Foundation of Animated Figures for the Development of Spain, which is a major display of puppets, marionettes and animated figures from Latin America. A marvelous tour of this history of animation will be opened in the National Gallery of Fine Arts on Friday June 17th at 7 PM and will remain open until July 30th. | ||
