Diplomatic Relations with the Kyrgyz Republic, completes the formalization of bilateral relations

In accordance with the policy of diversification of Diplomatic Relations with the world, President Dr. Leonel Fernández and Foreign Affairs Minister, Eng. Carlos Morales Troncoso, the Dominican Republic and the Kyrgyz Republic today formalized the establishment of diplomatic relations during a ceremony held in the headquarters of the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in New Delhi, in which both countries expressed their commitment to strengthen bilateral ties. The Joint Communique was signed by the Dominican Ambassador H.E. Mr. Hans Dannenberg Castellanos, and the Kyrgyz Ambassador, Her Excellency Ms. Irina A. Orolbaeva who received the full powers of their respective governments to sign this agreement.

Ambassador Dannenberg Castellanos, said that the establishment of Diplomatic Relations with the Kyrgyz Republic, completes the formalization of bilateral relations with all countries in the region of Central Asia,

Foreign Minister Morales Troncoso, complying with the policy of Dr. Leonel Fernandez, has formalized diplomatic relations with more than 30 countries in Asia, Africa and Oceania in the last 5 years, sparkling a diplomatic presence in the Caribbean country in various international forums and emerging economies of the world.

Ambassador Dannenberg Castellanos, said that the establishment of Diplomatic Relations with the Kyrgyz Republic, completes the formalization of bilateral relations with all countries in the region of Central Asia, considered by many to be one of the most important for its richness in minerals and alternative energy, and congratulates the vision of the present authorities of the Government, since it is becoming more strategic within the geopolitics and world economy.

On the other hand, Ambassador Orolbaeva said that the signing of diplomatic relations between the two countries will pave the way for the establishment of promissory bilateral ties in commercial and cultural issues and personal contacts, emphasizing the importance of the improvement of the collaboration between the two countries in the development of the tourism industry, especially in the line of ecotourism.

The United Nations system recognized the independence of the Kyrgyz Republic, formerly known as Kyrgyzstan when it was part of the Soviet Republics, in 1991. From this moment on it has become a strategic location, the reason why several countries have established military bases of support due to its geographical position located within Central Asia. In 2011 the Kyrgyz Republic was unanimously elected as Vice President for the Council for Human Rights of the United Nations for 2011-2012 as a speakers representing the council office. Currently it is running for the non-permanent seat for Asia for the period 2012-2013 in the Security Council of the United Nations, competing against Pakistan.

This mountainous country has an area of 199,951 square kilometers bordering China, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. It has abundant hydroelectric power, significant deposits of gold and rare metals, coal, oil and natural gas deposits of nepheline, mercury, bismuth, lead and zinc.

The Dominican Republic has established bilateral diplomatic relations with Uzbekistan on September 28, 2007, with Turkmenistan on February 9, 2009, with Tajikistan on May 25, 2010, with Kazakhastán on June 7 of the current year and this signing today with the Kyrgyz Republic completes the formalization of relations with all countries of this regional economic bloc.
