Culture Ministry Initiates Monument Conservation Project in La Vega

The Ministry of Culture and the Municipality of La Vega initiated a conservation project in Villa de la Concepción Archaeological and Historical National Park, which is located in Old La Vega. The project was inaugurated in this emblematic location.

The initiative, coordinated by the La Vega deputy Ministries of Cultural Heritage and Culture, seeks to streamline local and international cooperation and emphasize the value of the archaeological site.

This site is included in the United Nations Education, Science and Culture Organization (UNESCO) List of Cultural Heritage.

The directory of Urban Planning, part of the Town Hall of La Vega, will undertake the excavation of the site and will present a design proposal in a workshop which will take place at the end of August.

The meeting boasted the participation of the architects Orlando Lora, Vice Minister of Culture of La Vega; Manuel Salvador Gautier, Linda Roca, Cristian Martínez, Maritza Estrella and María del Carmen Rodríguez, who represented the Deputy-Ministry of Cultural Heritage.

The archaeologists Martha Roquel, Santiago Duval, Francisco Coste, Pierre Denis and Nerva Fondeur were also at the meeting. Architect and Director of Urban Planning, Raúl Morillas, attended the Municipal Town Hall of La Vega.
