President Fernández Meets with Ministers of Environment and Industry and Commerce

President Leonel Fernández Reyna visited the office of the Ministry of Environment where he met with the Minister, Jaime David Fernández Mirabal, and the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Manuel García Arévalo. They discussed various topics such as the country’s protected areas, rescued municipal areas and the Municipal Natural Gas, which was the main topic.

The Ministry of Environment, as ordered by President Fernández, has prioritized the Natural Gas component by grasping its vital economic and environmental importance for the Dominican Republic. 

In terms of Vehicular Natural Gas and the issuing of permits to commercialize it, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce has given 80 permits, out of which 19 have been granted to the Environment Ministry to further search for corresponding permits and, of these, 16 have been granted.

The Ministry of Environment, as ordered by President Fernández, has prioritized the Natural Gas component by grasping its vital economic and environmental importance for the Dominican Republic. 

As part of the visit to the Environment Ministry, President Fernández planted an oak tree in front of the building.
