Beaches Declared Free for Everyone in Cabarete After twelve years of searching for solutions to keep Encuentro Beach open to public access, especially for surfers, kite surfers and windsurfers who enjoy this Cabarete paradise, an agreement has finally been reached between civil society, the Association of Aquatic Sports of the Northern Coast (ADACON in Spanish) and the Town Hall of Cabarete. This resolution, 04-11 taken at an extraordinary session on July 21, 2011, approved the recuperation of all green and natural heritage areas in the entire Cabarete Municipality. This extremely important decision reflects the tenacity, responsibility and conscientiousness of civil society to take the necessary steps to protect the environment and rights of the community. Having approved the resolution, the Association of Aquatic Sports of the Northern Coast represented by its president Ricardo Ripoll, lawmakers from the Town Hall and Municipality of Cabarete, represented by Gabriel Mora, undertook the first steps of the Master Plan that will convert Encuentro Beach into a self-sustaining ecological corridor starting with Rocón and running along Camino Real or the old southern road.
