Environment Ministry Resolutions Delegates Functions and Certain Areas to Deputy Ministers

The Ministry of Environment released resolution 014/2011 assigning certain functions and thematic areas of competence to its Deputy Environment and Natural Resources Ministers within the organic structure of the Ministry.

The resolution also places the National Green Quisqueya Plan under the supervision of the Deputy Minister of Forest Resources and the Technical Office of Environmental Protection, under the supervision of the Deputy Minister of Environmental Management.

The resolution, signed by Minister Engineer Ernesto Reyna Alcántara, designated Manuel Serrano as Deputy Minister in charge of Forest Resources; Víctor García, Deputy Minister in charge of Soil and Water; Zoila González, Deputy Minister in charge of Environmental Management; Ydalia Acevedo, Deputy Minister in charge of Coastal and Marine Resources.

In addition, Ángel Daneris Santana was named Deputy Minister in charge of Protected Areas and Biodiversity; José Féliz Marrero, Deputy Minister in charge of Administrative and Financial issues; José Rafael Almonte Deputy Minister in charge of Planning and Development and Amarilis Polonia, Deputy Minister in charge of Environmental Education.

The resolution also places the National Green Quisqueya Plan under the supervision of the Deputy Minister of Forest Resources and the Technical Office of Environmental Protection, under the supervision of the Deputy Minister of Environmental Management.

The resolution reflects the Government’s deep interest in promoting and strengthening public institutions and assuring their transparency in order to continue the task of achieving sustainable development.
