The donation was carried out by Dominican Vice President, Rafael Alburquerque and Minister of Culture, José Rafael Lantigua, at the National Biennial of Visual Arts held in the Museum of Modern Art. The donation was accepted by Mrs. Marianne Lora, widow of the well-known painter and his daughter, Quisqueya Lora Hugi. At the same time, the Silvano Lora Foundation gave the Museum of Modern Art three paintings done by the late artist which will become part of the museum´s permanent collection. Silvano Lora was a painter, muralist, installation artist and promoter of culture who got involved in various painting and artistic styles and trends from figuration to experimentation. As a promoter of culture, he created the Marginal Biennial and the Rural Museum of Los Rios. ¨This is a contribution that we are very satisfied with, firstly because it will contribute to the opening of the Silvano Lora workshops that will benefit dozens of young artists and, secondly, it will help with the incorporation of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art with these three wonderful pieces from such an appreciated and much-remembered artist like Silvano,¨ said the Minister of Culture, José Rafael Lantigua as he presented the donation to the artist´s widow and daughter.
