SID Group Undertakes this Year’s School Sponsoring Program MercaSID, Induveca, Agua Crystal and Induspalma, all part of the SID Group, are undertaking their student sponsorship program in four new public schools. Each one of these schools is located near the operations of the participating companies and is supported by their sustainable corporative social responsibility programs for education. Their program is called EducaSid. The schools selected are the Santo Domingo Special School, San Martin de Porres School, Malaquías Gil School and the San Francisco School. A total of 5,000 people are benefitted directly and indirectly through this program. Some of the benefits the schools are receiving include the creation of libraries and school clinics, infrastructure renovation, creation of new and the renovation of existing basketball and volleyball courts, the donations of books, encyclopedia sets as well as other learning materials, the creation of recreational areas, donations of useful school supplies (book bags and pencil cases, pens, pencils, erasers, pencil sharpeners, rulers, etc.) and coupons for the purchase of uniforms and bicycles for rural schools. The SID Group, as a way of motivating excellence and good behavior, recognized outstanding students for their academic performance, moral and patriotic values and discipline. Seventy children were recognized and honored in front of their parents, friends, schoolmates and teachers. EducaSID seeks to implement the recognition of academic excellence, promoting motivation to study by valuing diligence, friendship and the conservation of family and patriotic values, explained Rossy Calderon, Manager of Corporate Communications of the SID Group. Attending these recognition activities, which took place in each of the schools, were parents, students, Education Ministry representatives, parents associations and leading executives of MercaSID, Induveca, Agua Crystal and Induspalma. Those executives include: José Manuel Armenteros, Vice President of Induspalma; Julio Guerra, Vice President of Induveca; Lil Esteva, Vice President of Corporate Communications; Ruben Santana, Technical Vice President of Induveca; Renato Cantarelli, Vice President of Operations of MercaSID; Jaime Chiquillo, General Manager of Induspalma and Enrique Noboa, General Manager of Agua Crystal. With these new schools, the SID Group through its EducaSID program, is now supporting a total of 10 schools on a national level. Three of the four new schools in the EducaSID program have recognized the SID Group for its continual and sustained support of education. MercaSID chose a unique school dedicated to special education for children with special needs, the Escuela Especial Santo Domingo. Induveca chose a public school near San Martín de Porres, which is a Catholic school run by nuns. Agua Crystal decided on Malaquías Gil and Induspalma chose a beautiful school called San Francisco. “Our goal is to give the best we can in order to guarantee a dignified education to our communities in need of continued and reliable support, involving all of our personnel in the entire process” said Julio Guerra, Induveca Vice President, speaking at the San Martín de Porres School.
