Punta Blanca Celebrates IV Golf Tournament Golfers from Spain, Puerto Rico, the United States and the Dominican Republic. In an atmosphere of camaraderie, the golfers and organizers were pleased with the results of this successful tournament. Punta Blanca Golf Club recently celebrated its fourth golf tournament in honor of businessman, Mickey Flaquer. Those present included Tomás Mercedes, Director of Punta Blanca Golf Club; Homero Savignón and Antonio Ramis, part of the technical team, Tournament Ccoordinator, Angelina Taveras and, naturally, the honoree, Mr. Mickey Flaquer. Diancady Santana Mota, dominated Category A, with a 142 (for 18 holes), beating his mates, William Melo who shot a 147, Adan Saviñon, a 148 to tie with, Luís José Placeres.. Fernando de la Cruz came in first in Category B with a score of 161 followed by José Hilario with 135 and honoree, Micky Flaquer, with 136 strokes to take third place in a tie with Federico Félix..Category C was taken by Miguel Corominas, with a score of 173 strokes followed by Manuel Díaz with 136, Fernando Vallista wtih 140 and Federico Báez with 139. Manuel Díaz Coronado, was the champ in Category C with 206 strokes, while Juan Carmona, followed him with 143, Teddy García took second place with 142, leaving third place to Pedro Muñiz who hits 148 strokes. In the women´s category Margarita de Makovec ruled with 142 strokes, followed by Cecilia Rosado with 147 for second place and Eneida Martínez took third with 146 strokes. The tournament brought together players from Spain, Puerto Rico, the United States, and the Dominican Republic, making it an event with international character. The tournament is celebrated every year at the Punta Cana course, which was designed by the well-known golf architect Nick Price.
