Deputy Ministry of Culture for the Northern Region celebrated the IV Choral Festival of Santiago 2011, in the Héctor Incháustegui Cabral Hall of the Cultural Center of this province.

This year´s Festival was dedicated to Santiago native and tenor, Henry Ely, who received a recognition plaque from Enegildo Peña, Deputy Minister of Culture for the Northern Region.

This Choral Festival enjoyed the participation of diverse singing groups from the heart city such as the Orfeón Choral, Tuna of the la Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra, Chorus of the Free Methodist Church, Chorus from the College of San Francisco de Asís and the Choral group from the Archdiocese of Santiago.

Every year at the festival, several important artistic figures from Santiago receive recognition. Among those honored in the past are Father César Hilario, Professor Gertrudis Ely and Monsignor Ramón Benito de la Rosa y Carpio, Archbishop of the Metropolitan of Santiago, for their efforts in the promotion of cultural and artistic values

The purpose of the Choral Festival, now in its 5th year, is to strengthen the choral movement in this city. This year´s Festival is dedicated to the Choral Group of the Archdiocese of Santiago, according to an announcement made by Deputy Culture Minister, Enegildo Peña.

The Festival attracted choral singers, music lovers, friends and families in a space where they were able to enjoy educational, artistic, cultural and human exchange.
