Panel and Jazz Night at the 26 Biennale On Friday, September 30 starting at 7:00 pm, the Ministry of Culture, the Museum of Modern Art (MAM in Spanish) and the Organizing Committee of the 26 Biennale National Visual Arts of Santo Domingo 2011, will hold a panel “Curatorship: Interior and Exterior Visions,” followed by a “Night of Jazz,” with Ania Paz. The panel will be held in the MAM auditorium and will feature Paula Gómez, Margarita González Auffant and Myrna Guerrero with César Iván Feris Iglesias … The panel will be held in the MAM auditorium and will feature Paula Gómez, Margarita González Auffant and Myrna Guerrero with César Iván Feris Iglesias as moderator. They will discuss important topics such as the importance of curatorship and the curator, that is to say the person who conceives of the exhibition based on concepts and criteria focused on an artist or a collection of artists and their work. Then, at 8:30 pm on the Front Esplanade of the MAM, the Night of Jazz will begin, with pianist and composer, Ania Paz, who is recognized in the world of Jazz for her modern and energetic sound mixed with an innovative fusion of Caribbean and Afro-Peruvian rhythm. The evening´s events are free and open to the public. Other artists include Juliana, José Duluc, the Alfareros Group, Los Violetas, the El Arañazo Literary Collective. The musical performances include Jochi Muñoz, Lina Aybar, José Pión, Mabel Manzano, Cindy Sol and Francis Tylor. Some of the theoretical panels already held as part of the 26 Biennale include panels with “Cándido Bidó,” Elsa Núñez,” “Rosa Tavárez” and roundtables where renowned art critics have shared their knowledge and impressions of the trajectory and influence of Dominican painting and art. The Museum of Modern Art of the Dominican Republic is located on Pedro Henríquez Ureña Ave, Plaza of Culture Juan Pablo Duarte. Hours have been extended for the 26 Biennale, from Tuesday to Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Fridays until 10:00 p.m.
