The Minister was received by Carlos Fondeur, President of the Council for Strategic Development of Santiago (CSDS in Spanish); Hamlet Otáñez, member of the CSDS Directive Technical Committee and Director of the Aqueduct and Sewers Corporation of Santiago (CORAASAN in Spanish) and Reynaldo Peguero, Director of the “Santiago 2020” Strategic Plan Director. The Structuring Project is a work tool that collects the set of systemic interventions for the next six years among the public, private and civil society actors in the province, to protect and sustainably exploit its natural resources, with the goal of achieving an economically sustainable and environmentally responsible province. Minister Reyna had a work agenda in Santiago province that included meetings with the Santiago Development Association (APEDI); the Industrial Association of Santiago, the Environmental Attorney and the Regional Police Commander of the province. Also, the Dominican Federation of Municipalities (FEDOMU) will meet the Senatorial Office of Santiago, the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, the Cibao Ecological Society (SOECI) and the Council for Strategic Development of the city to promote the formulation of the Provincial Environmental Agenda, given that many environmental problems transcend the municipal territory. An administrative model of public resources centered on compliance with the strategic actions defined in the National Development Strategy of 2030 will be used. The environmental agenda will establish provincial priorities as well as the alignment and commitment of all social institutions and organizations involved. The Environmental Agenda of Santiago (AGASA in Spanish), which will have a systemic character, will also be the base on which the management of the Ministry of Environment will be structured at the provincial level, taking shape in the Annual Operation Plans (POA). The Provincial Environmental Agenda will be an instrument of social control that will permit the citizenry to follow the commitments and agreements assumed among public and private institutions and civil society.
