Onda Sonora and Domingo Batista Panel Conclude Events at the 26 Biennale The Domingo Batista panel and the People´s Award were kicked off with a party by Onda Sonora in which the Ministry of Culture, the Museum of Modern Art and the Organizing Committee of the 26 National Visual Arts Biennale came to a close in Santo Domingo on the 11th of the month. Batista presided over the Grupo Fotográfico Jueves 68 (Thursday 68 Photography Group) where he had at least forty one-man shows. He had more than sixty group shows inside and outside the country … The activity began at 7:00 pm with the “Panel: Domingo Batista,” given by art critics Carlos Acero and César Payams, with Mayra Johnson as moderator. The panel was held in the Auditorium of the Museum of Modern Art where various themes about the artwork of Santiago´s native son were discussed. Batista presided over the Grupo Fotográfico Jueves 68 (Thursday 68 Photography Group) where he had at least forty one-man shows. He had more than sixty group shows inside and outside the country as well as several books published. He has also won more than 30 awards for his work, both nationally and internationally. Other events held on the last night of the Biennale included “Last Night a Hipster Saved my Life” an ephemeral piece of art complemented by the music of Onda Sonora, a unique audiovisual experience which was ideal for an “Electronic Night” held at 8:30 pm on the Spanish Patio of the Museum. The Museum of Modern Art of the Dominican Republic is located on Pedro Henríquez Ureña Avenue, Juan Pablo Duarte Culture Plaza. Normal Museum hours were extended for the 26 Biennale, from Tuesday to Sunday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Fridays until 10:00 p.m. | ||
