EDESUR is working on the Duarte Highway street lighting EDESUR reported running a project to improve and replace public streetlight fixtures on a largestretch of the Duarte Highway, in order to contribute topublic safety and to the night beautificationof this important thoroughfare. EDESUR stated that, between those that are being repaired and those to be fitted, a total of 830 streetlamps are being installed with an initial net budgetof RD$6 million. The works involve the standardization of public lighting on the Duarte Highway in a stretchof approximately 18 kilometerslocated between km 28 on the Pedro Brand sector, as well as at kilometer 9 at the Luperon Avenue and John F. Kennnedy intersection. EDESUR stated that, between those that are being repaired and those to be fitted, a total of 830 streetlamps are being installed with an initial net budget of RD$6 million. Work began on December 19, 2011 and to date continuous lighthas been installed between kilometers 25 and 18, and intermittent lighting in the areas between kilometers 28 and 25 and 18 and 9, with a total of 652 powered street lights, which represents 78% of the total work. The electric company pointed out that the installation of street lights has not advanced in some sections because they interfere with the construction of the Subway and with the DuarteHighwayand Monumental Avenue overpass. EDESUR also performs street light works in the different sectors that make up its concession area. | ||
