The rock and pop band Futuros Divorciados, nominated to the 2012 Casandra Awards as the Best Rock Band, stretches its creative muscles with “Acústico,” playing for four weeks at the Theatre House bar, where it intends to show its versatility and diversity of influences during four different thematic shows. The shows will include luxury guests and will be free of charge, as a gift to its fans, and thanks to the sponsorship of the National Dominican Brewery.

Of course, Futuros Divorciados have disconnected before: in 2011 Mario Alejandro (vocalist,) Jonathan Casado (guitar) and Loan Oviedo (drums) crossed over to the pop and ballads radio stations with their acoustic ballad “Será”, which was, possibly, last year’s most popular Dominican rock and pop song.
A couple of acoustic shows in Santiago and Santo Domingo were enough to convince the band about the potential of their format. However, the shows that are scheduled on Thursdays, March 15th, 22th and 29th, and on Wednesday, April 4th, are much more ambitious than their hits that have been showcased during smaller and more intimate shows, since each of the upcoming shows will have a different theme and different guests.
“But the themes and guests of each show will not be revealed ahead of time. One of the shows will be devoted to Spanish and Argentinean musicians who have influenced the band, from Serrat to Cerati. Another show will be devoted to Latin American and Dominican rock. There will be a show devoted to English and American rock, and even a night devoted to classic merengue and bachata, adapted to the style of the band,” stated José Bordas, the shows’ producer.
Of course, the acoustic versions of the group’s hits, such as “Sigoesperando,” “Superhéroe,” and “Venascortadas” included in their first full length CD, as well as “Media hora de tuvida, dos años de la nuestra”, cannot be absent.
Futuros Divorciados will not perform alone at the Theatre House. The guests that already have confirmed include: Tony Almont (Toque Profundo), PavelNúñez, Frank Ceara, Mariano Lantigua (Aljadaqui), Frank Grullón (Huellas Invisibles) and C. Cordero (Colectivo De Comedia La Guagua). However, Bordas asserts that this list of special guests is likely to be expanded.
The band is also promoting “Complicado,” their new single in collaboration with the hip hop artist Vakeró, whose video on YouTube received more than 15 thousand views during the first 24 hours after its release. Meanwhile, of course, FuturosDivorciados continues with its presentations. On the 30th of March, they will perfom at the Dubai Club in Santiago, and on the 28th of April, at the auditorium of the ColegioBabeque in Santo Domingo, where they will offer a show for all ages.
