Join GFDD on May 16 for Haitian-Dominican Friendship Concert Join Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) for an evening of celebration of Dominican and Haitian music on Wednesday, May 16. GFDD is partnering with The Smithsonian National Museum of African Art, The Smithsonian Latino Center, The Embassy of the Dominican Republic, The Embassy of Haiti, and The Dominican Republic Tourist Board to present the “Haitian-Dominican Friendship Concert.” The event will take place at the Baird Auditorium in the National Museum of Natural History in Washington, DC, from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. The event is free and open to the public. The concert will present African-derived musical traditions of the two countries. Enrique Tejada y Los Clarinetes Mágicos will perform an opening set of merengues, boleros, and Latin jazz, followed by Tabou Combo who will close the show with knopa and Haitian merengue music. Doors open at 6:30 pm. Seating is on a first come basis. Date: Wednesday, May 16 |
