Dominican will participate in the 2012 Quetzal Route The Embassy of Spain and the Ministry of Education have the honor to informthe public the name of the young lady who has been selected to participate in the 2012 BBVA Quetzal Route, for her work on “The Royal Botanical Expedition of the New Kingdom of Granada.” The winner is Miss Milena FerderVolonteri, honors student at the Montessori Institute of Santo Domingo, National District. This edition of the Quetzal Route was aimed at young Dominicans who were born in 1995 and 1996. The expedition, which will take place in June and July of 2012, will travel to Colombia, following the route taken by physician, astronomer, botanist and great educator JoséCelestino Bruno Mutis.Sailing through the Rio Grande de la Magdalena is reminiscent of the last trip taken by Simon Bolivar, which ended in Santa Martha, historical city in the Caribbean coast. The expedition will continue its route to Spain, and in Cadiz, which is the 2012 Ibero-American Capital of Culture, it will commemorate the Bicentennial of the Spanish Constitution of 1812, which was so important for Spain and for Latin America and which constitutes a milestone in the history of the Spanish and Latin American constitutionalism. The ceremony to deliver the equipment that has been sent to the winner by the BBVA Quetzal Route will take place in the Maria UgarteHall at the Cultural Center of Spain.The expedition member will be able to use this equipment during her upcoming trip. | ||
