This is an initiative for the population to enjoy free high quality films with positive value messages.


In and effort to democratize access to film, Dominican First Lady Margarita Cedeño de Fernández, has set up a new space, the “Film Corner,” within the Dominican Republic Children’s Library.


In and effort to democratize access to film, Dominican First Lady Margarita Cedeño de Fernández, has set up a new space, the “Film Corner,” within the Dominican Republic Children’s Library.


The objective of this initiative is to promote values through the projection of various types of films for the public to enjoy free of charge. Another objective is to entertain and educate as well as offer the viewers an opportunity to travel the world without ever leaving their homes.


The Film Corner has access to more than a thousand films and documentaries for all ages. The films can be seen from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm Monday through Friday and Saturdays starting at 8:00 am until 6:00 pm.


Those interested in enjoying these screenings can go to the Info-Puerto hall, which is on the 2nd floor of the Library where they can look through a film catalogue and choose from among the many movies.


“The Pacific Warrior,” “The Society of Dead Poets,” “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “The Miracle,” “The Aviator,” “The Piano Player,” “The Illusionist,” “Toy Story” and “Cars” are some of the available feature films in addition to documentaries of national and world history, science and much more are all available at the Library’s new Film Corner.


Since the inauguration of the Dominican Children’s Library in 2009, the subject of film has been present in all activities. During the week, films are shown exclusively for mothers, children and the entire family.


The Film Club, held on Saturdays, is a space in which teens between 13 and 18, who love films, can meet at 10:00 am to enjoy a movie and share their ideas and opinions while learning all about film appreciation with the help of film teacher and Dominican actress Fiora Cruz.
