SEMMA delivers report on its administration to Deputies The authorities of the Health Insurance for Teachers (SEMMA for its acronym in Spanish) delivered a report on the administrative management of the agency during the period April, 2011 – May, 2012 to the Committee on Health and Social Security of the House of Representatives. Citing the challenges and progress made, Fiallo Bellini said that SEMMA must seek to enter into strategic alliances with the different areas of the health sector and with the National Congress in order to strengthen and to extend its coverage. The report was presented by Dr. Alberto FialloBillini, SEMMA’sExecutive Director, to the Chairman of the Committee on Health, Franklin Peña, who thanked him for his interest in submitting reports on SEMMA’s work to the House of Deputies. “Knowing what SEMMA has accomplished, how its image has changed, and what are its major projects, is an important step that the authorities of SEMMA have takenfor the control and representation of the legislators,” said the President of the Health Committee. Before submitting his report, Dr. FialloBillini welcomed the presence of the Deputies and informedof SEMMA’s interest in Congress to legislate itto improve SEMMA’s operations in terms of its legal framework. Citing the challenges and progress made, Fiallo Bellini said that SEMMA must seek to enter into strategic alliances with the different areas of the health sector and with the National Congress in order to strengthen and to extend its coverage. He stressed the importance of adopting a draft billon health to ensure the organization’s smooth running. For her part, the Chair of the Committee on Social Security, Dr. María Mercedes Fernández, thanked the interest of SEMMA’s executives in having the Deputies know how that organization works. “We appreciate your interest in submitting to us the memories of youradministration of the institution, for us to learn of the work you have accomplished during this new phase of our work and duty to legislate and supervise,” reiterated the Congresswoman. The following members of Congress were present:Néstor Julio Cruz, Ramón Bueno, Nelson Guillén, Juana Vicente, José Antonio Fabián, Frank Soto, CristianParedes, Fabio Vargas, Juan Rodríguez, Juan Quiñones, Ramón DuránParedes and Fabio Hidalgo, among others, as well as executives from the financial, administrative and personnel areas of SEMMA.
