Fourth Photo-Culture 2012 Rally A Great Success

The Culture Center of the Spanish Embassy in Santo Domingo hosted the fourth version of its Photo Rally,“Photo-Culture 2012,” an organized competition in conjunction with“Photoimagen,”which, thisyear, chose the theme “Transit” with the support and participation of 137 photographers, professionals and amateurs alike.

The jury that will select the winners this year is comprised of 5 people who represent organizing institutions and renowned experts in the field of photography and culture.

Throughout the event, participants did a complete tour of the various places that make up the Colonial Zone, their lensescapturing the scenes and situations that go on in this busy area with cars as well as pedestrians who live in and visit the historical center of the city.

The previous photo competition included a category for young people in which teens between 12 and 16 years of age competed for the prize of a new camera. This year, 7 teens participated along with one adult. The rest of the participants were divided between amateurs and professionals who competed in three categories: Best Photo Reporting (6 photographers) for a cash prize of RD$ 25.000 and Best Photo for a prize of RD$ 15.000 and Best Photo in the teen category, in which the winner received a camera.
