2012 Motor Vehicle Registration Renewal up 40% in First Month of Process To date,146,088 motor vehicle registration stickers were obtained at points of sale and 13,644 were renewed over the Internet (10.37% of sales). The Directorate General of Internal Taxes (DGII) reported that the 2012 sticker renewal rose by 40% during the first month of the process over the same period last year. A total of 159,732 stickers wererenewed during the first 30 days of this process, compared to 114,358 renewals that were made in the first month of the 2011 process. An additional 45,374 stickers have been renewed this year. To date,DR$214,374,400.00 have been collected representing an increase of DR$57,031,800.00 in comparison with the same period last year, a growth of 36%. This time, the points of sale had the highest sales levels with 146,088 stickers sold. This is a 41% increase over 2011 sales. Internet sales totaled 13,644 stickers,representing 31% growth compared to the previous period. The DGII has 332 points of sale to facilitate the 2012 sticker renewal, in the Savings and Loan Associations, authorized banks, the Collections Offices ofJimaní, Villa Vasquez, Pedernales and Sanchez,and in the Local Samana Administration. Taxpayers can also renew online (www.dgii.gov.do), 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and the sticker is delivered free of charge to their home or office. This year the cost of renewing the 2012 Motor Vehicle Registration Tax will be DR$1,200.00 for vehicles manufactured in 2007 or earlier, and DR$2,200.00 for 2008 and newer vehicles.
