Attorney General’s Office warns that site inspections and raids to businesses and users of illegal software will continue The Department of Intellectual Property, Telecommunications and Electronic Commerce of the Attorney General’s Office warned that site inspections and raids to businesses and users of illegal software will continue. Mr. Pedro Felix Montes de Oca, Assistant Attorney General and Head of the above mentioned Department informed that his entity is continuously running inspections, audits, and seizing computer equipment that lacks the corresponding licenses. He added that the operation will take place in all the national territory. Montes de Oca stated that several inspections have taken place since the month of June. Businesses as well as users with more than 20 computers without the proper licenses to operate software used to analyze and store data have been investigated. He affirmed that piracy is an important problem in the country. As a consequence, the Department he leads will spare no effort or resources to tackle the high piracy levels registered nationwide.
