This is the first production that has a Dominican-Haitian character among its leading roles. This is a story of love, intrigue and mixed emotions, which is being filmed in the Cristo Rey neighborhood, and it promises to bring the viewers to a full climax.

Sergio Gobbi (Filmde L’Astre), President of the Dominican International Company and executive producers Joan JoanGiacinti, Diego Fernández and Leo Proaño, started shooting the film Cristo Rey (Christ the King)under the direction of Leticia Tonos, and under the auspices of the Dominican film incentive law.

This is the first production that has a Dominican-Haitian character among its leading roles. This is a story of love, intrigue and mixed emotions, which is being filmed in the Cristo Rey neighborhood, and it promises to bring the viewers to a full climax.

“We started shooting the movie at a good pace, thanks to the support we have received from the local people who are excited about the production,” says director Leticia Tonos.

The film narrates a story in which two brothers of different races, education and social backgroundscompete for the love of a woman, in a plot that illustrates the socio-cultural aspects that are characteristic of the Dominican neighborhoods.

Starring Dominicans James Saintl, Yasser Michelen Cunillera and Akari Endo, the Cristo Rey film also includes other important names among its productioncrew, such as Humberto Castellanos “El Ché” in the director’s team.

Also, Spaniard Kika Húngaro,is the director of photography whose experience will get the best aspects out of the locations, thereby recreating a reality that will have an impact in the movie theaters.

The art director is Gessele Madera; Ferdinando Erbeti, is in charge of costumes; and Ana Andrickson is the makeup artist.

It should be noted that Cristo Rey will be the first entirely Dominican production with guaranteed distribution in the European movie theaters.
