Missak Boghboudarain, distinguished director of the Syrian National Symphony (country where just a year ago the unforgettable concert “Caribbean Gems”, directed by Maestro José Antonio Molina, took place), held the baton with masterful grace and unusual cosmic energy tolead the Caribbean musicians through impressive symphonic passages that included the overture to “La Forza del Destino,” by ItalianGiuseppe Verdi; the three movements of “Concierto de Aranjuez”; and the monumental cadence of “The Firebird,” by Russian Igor Stravinsky. The prodigious hands of Cuban guitarist Rubén González Ávila honored the famous composition by Spanish composer Joaquín Rodrigo. The flawless execution of the piece, followed by the masterful counterpoint by the orchestra, snatched a passionate standing ovation from the audience, at the completion of the “Allegro gentile.” The suite from the ballet “The Firebird” closed the musical gala night, which became anunrivaled prelude to the triumphant closing of this symphonic season, whose last concert, number six, will take place on Wednesday, November 28. This last presentation will be directed by Maestro José Antonio Molina, who will be accompanied by the voices of soprano Paola González, baritone Jason Stearns, and tenor Michael Daniel Bicoy, as well as by the National Choir, the Choir of the Judiciary, and the choirboys of the Centro de Estudios de Música Moderna Laurina Vásquez, interpreting the piece Carmina Burana, by Carl Orff.
