National Physical Ed Institute Celebrates Skills of Students Throughout Country As is customary, the National Physical Education Institute (INEFI in Spanish) and the Ministry of Education (MINERD) holds an annual inter-scholastic physical education gathering where students from all around the country show their physical, motor and sports skills as well as showing off the excellent work being done by Dominican Physical Education professionals. Students from various schools in the 7th School District performed a gymnastic routine set to music and other gymnastic exercises that showed their talent and physical-motor skills while stressing their biomechanical movements. On this occasion, School District 06-07, studentsdemonstratedthe talent, technique and tactics they learned from teachers who are truly dedicated to teaching physical activity, sports and recreation. The opening of the events was attended by the District Director, GreciaMerette; District professional, AnelMaríaVásquez; Francis Vargas director of the Department of Hygiene and Health of INEFI and Luis Emilio Brito Arias, in charge of INEFI’s regional school sports clubs of District 6. Also present were the directors, teachers, and professionals from the municipal school districts. The event began with Abelito Soto, who acted as master of ceremony. He was followed by the district director, who gave the welcoming words, and explained the level of physical activities that continues to grow among students. Brito Arias said the National Physical Education Institute was impressed at seeing these excellent skills being performed all around the country and for that reason, they will continue supporting them so that students can keep their minds and bodies in good shape. He told students they should keep up the athletic activity so this special sports day will continue to be a success. District professional, AnelMaríaVásquez talked about the importance of maintaining high self-esteem and urged all students to show respect and follow the rules established by the technical commission. Vargas, director of the Department of Hygiene and Health of INEFI, said that these inter-scholastic activities are very important to maintain hygiene and improve the quality of health as a way of increasing the quality of life for the students.
