Simón Romero Dominican Gastronomic Festival The State Secretariat of Tourism (Secretaria de Estado de Turismo) has organized the thirty-third Simon Romero Dominican Gastronomic Festival on August 23rd and 24th. The main purpose of this event is to stimulate the creative work of chefs and cooking assistants from all local and regional culinary organizations throughout the country. The festival will take place in the conventions area of the Dominican Fiesta Hotel. In this opportunity, the funds raised through the event will be given to the National Committee for the Blind. The organizing committee will convene a team of well-versed individual in the national gastronomy as the jury. Members from the organizing committee highlighted that for the thirty-third version of the Simon Romero Dominican Gastronomic Festival, 18 varieties of food will compete. Each dish is supported by its respective sponsor. On the first day, the turn will be for sancochos, hors oeuvres, vegetarian cuisine, corn salt-flavored dishes, meat, creole cuisine, rice and bakery products. The sponsors for the first night will be: Productos La Famosa, Ecochem, C. por A., Propagas, Maicera Dominicana, El Catador, S.A., Balacao Noruego, Publiarte, S.A., Aceite Crisol, Arroz Bisonó and Margarina Manicera. The Festival’s attendants will be able to delight their senses throughout the second day with soups, broths and creams, salads, creative cuisine, pasta, beer based dishes, poultry, fish and seafood, sweet dishes based on maize and creole sweets. The contestants’ second day will be sponsored by Dominican Nestle, Figaro Olive Oil, Mercasid Foodservices, Molinos Modernos, Dominican Association for beer brewer, Baltimore Dominicana, Presidente beer, Maicera Dominicana and Bon Agroindustrial.
