FACCI Invites People to Enjoy “A Night of Love and Hope”

Starting on April 26th 2003, the Foundation of Friends against Childhood Cancer (FACCI in Spanish) has developed programs designed to find resources and solutions for the Dr. Robert Reid Cabral Child´s Hospital medical staff, in order to help enhance the life expectancy and lifestyle of children with cancer, as well as offering their families support programs so they can receive appropriate treatment as needed.

In order to accomplish these goals, we have designed a program of activities this year that will commence on February 14th with the traditional fundraising party,A Night of Love and Hope, the event with which we will celebrate International Childhood Cancer Day.

Improving diagnostics, providing oncological medication and general support for children with cancer and their families, are some of the objectives that FACCI has been developing over the last ten years, through donations from corporations as well as individuals, and the work of dozens of people who volunteer at the hospital.

For the present year,FACCI continues to develop its different programs in which the challenges include: the creation of a blood bank within the hospital that will meet the children´s needs; reinforcing palliative measures in patients that are no longer responding to medical treatment; the elaboration of a nutritional manual for children with cancer, and the opening of the FACCI House,  a space created to provide support and attention to the children and their families.

In order to accomplish these goals, we have designed a program of activities this year that will commence on February 14th with the traditional fundraising party,A Night of Love and Hope, the event with which we will celebrate International Childhood Cancer Day.

This year the event will take place in the Hotel Embajador´s Garden Tent and will be attended by a special guest and the Leo Suvervi Orchestra. We need your donations in order to make this first event happen, and these are some of the different ways in which you can show your support:

• Sponsoring beverages
• Cash donations to offset the expenses of event.
• Sponsoring artistic entertainment.
• Purchase of tickets.
• Donation of items for a raffle.

Your help can make a difference in the life of a child, a family and the whole community; Cancer is not contagious, Love is.
