Exhibition of Primary Origins and Forms Opens at Modern Museum The Ministry of Culture, in coordination with the Museum of Modern Art, inaugurated “Primary Origins and Forms”by artist Fernando Varela, in an event on the first floor of the Museum. The show has been divided into Origins, which deals with development in cosmic time through a graph that looks at the origin of form, space and time. Museum director, María Elena Ditrén, in her welcome speech, said this exhibition is the beginning of a larger activities program here at the Museum of Modern Art (MAM) and is part of the 2013 cultural agenda of the Culture Ministry. The exhibition, from the artist’s experience on the cities of Guayaquil, Cuenca and Quito Ecuador, includes such pieces as: “Espacio y Forma”, “FormasPrimarias 7”, “Origen XIV”, “Origen y Dualidad”, “Formación de la Dualidad” and “OYD I”, among others in this same series. The show has been divided into Origins, which deals with development in cosmic time through a graph that looks at the origin of form, space and time. The other pieces, Primary Forms produce a process of contrast and revelation wherein the artist suggests a logical and parallel continuation of the discourse that has a distinct preeminence on the concept of light as a revealing instrument of realities and truth. Fernando Varela’s artistic production is defined by a vastness of symbolic and spiritual references where each of his canvases or papers suggest a perennial spiritual, social, consistent and ideological questioning of the content of these reflections which examine artistic esthetics. The Museum of Modern Art of the DominicanRepublic is located on Pedro HenríquezUreña Ave,Juan Pablo Duarte Culture Plaza. The MAM is open Tuesday trough Sunday between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. |
