A documentary film on President Bosch will be broadcasted on TV Dominican Republic, Santo Domingo, February 22, 2013
The feature-length documentary “Bosch: Presidente en la frontera imperial (Bosch: President at the imperial border)” will be broadcastedby four television channels, as part of the activities commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of therise to power of Juan Bosch on February 27, 1963.
Written and directed by René Fortunato, the film screening and TV premiere of “Bosch: Presidente en la frontera imperial” will take place on Wednesday, February 27, at 10 pm on the Digital 15 and TelemicroInternacional channels.
The ninety-five minute documentary showcases the most importantmoments of President Bosch’s administration, his efforts to establish a system of broad civil liberties and social justice, and his extensive program for disseminatingthe Dominican arts and culture.
Written and directed by René Fortunato, the film screening and TV premiere of “Bosch: Presidente en la frontera imperial” will take place on Wednesday, February 27, at 10 pm on the Digital 15 and TelemicroInternacional channels.
The feature film will also be brodcasted on the sameeveningbyTelemicro Channel 5 at 11:45 pm,right after the end of the Telemicronewscast, and byTelemicro HD at8 pm, for those who have HD High Definition service in their homes.
Praised by critics as one of the best film productions of the Dominican cinema, and winner of several international film awards, René Fortunato’s documentary film production “Bosch: Presidente en la frontera imperial,” will premiere on television thanks to the sponsorship of Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE).
Among the various awards and distinctions that “Bosch: Presidente en la frontera imperial” has receivedare: the Silver Remi Award for Creative Excellence at the Houston International Film Festival;the ACE Award for Best Documentary screened in New York in 2009, awarded by the Association of Latin Entertainment Critics of New York; the 2010 Casandra Award for Best Director, René Fortunato, and Best Dominican Film Production of 2009, and the Official Selection at the International Film Festival of Viña del Mar, Chile.
The film has been screened at numerous specialized events and out of competition at several international film festivals, including at Havana’s International Festival of New Latin American Cinema, and more recently, on Thursday, February 21st, at the CinetecaNacional de México (Mexico’s National Film Archives), under the sponsorship of the Dominican Embassy in that country.
