From March 6 through the 16, the Carlos PiantiniHall at the Eduardo BritoNational Theater will become the scenario for the varied repertoire that will be offered during the ninth edition of the Santo Domingo Music Festival.


During this year’s installment, the Festival will include a lyrical performance to commemorate the two hundred anniversary of the birth of Giuseppe Verdi, with Russian diva Maria Guleghina and the Festival’s Orchestra and Chorus, under the baton of Ramón Tebar.


Following the opening night in which the outstanding presentation of Venezuela’sSimón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Maestro Gustavo Dudamel,will take place, the Music Festival will continue its scheduleof presentations and, again, will host international stars such as violinist Joshua Bell, trumpeter Alison Balsom, pianists Antonio Pompa-Baldi and Jue Wang, and cellistGautier Capuçon.


During this year’s installment, the Festival will include a lyrical performance to commemorate the two hundred anniversary of the birth of Giuseppe Verdi, with Russian diva Maria Guleghina and the Festival’s Orchestra and Chorus, under the baton of Ramón Tebar.


The program of the Ninth Santo Domingo Music Festival, which has already become a tradition in the country, will also host the Festival Orchestra, a symphony orchestrathat consists of the best Dominican symphonic classical instrumentalists, and well-known guest musicians from the Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam – one of the world’s top three orchestras – the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the Royal Danish Orchestra, and musicians of the Spanish Radio and of the United States.


Violinist Joshua Bell’s concert, under the baton of Maestro RamónTebar, will take place on March 6, and it will be followed by the Giuseppe Verdi’s Bicentennial Galaon March 9,with the participation of Soprano Maria Guleghina. The schedule of recitalswill continue with performances by pianists Antonio Pompa-Baldiand Jue Wang, both directed by Maestro Benjamin Zander on March 12 and 14, respectively.


The closing night will take place on Saturday, March 16.The Festival will close with cellist Gautier Capuçon’smasterful performance under the direction of Maestro RamónTebar.
