It is the first solo exhibition of the Swiss-based Dominican artist Celeste Seligmann. The exhibition, entitled “En vías de perdón (In the process of forgiveness),“ exposes,by way of photographs and installations, the fabric of violence in our society. The Centro de la Imagen, as a platform devoted to the study, promotion and appreciation of photographic and artistic images,proposes this exhibit as a way of demonstrating how the artistic expression and production helps the creators to confront their context and as a response to the environment in which the artist develops.

In the core of works that make up this exhibition,Celeste Seligmann proposes a discourse based on the experience of women in an arid and often confrontational context, between the fallacies and subtleties of the language we use to define the twists and turns of human interaction. Seligmann addresses the issue of her identity with a contemporary feminist aesthetics in light of concepts which, without going into ideological discourses,cross the boundaries of the male and female instincts. Inspired by her childhood and in a very personal language, her work raises, in a manner that is pointedly feminine, the inroads in our ability to love and forgive, as metaphors for the power of life and death. She is always concerned about proposing a plural and open, engaged and participatoryreadingof reality, thus gaining full freedom from the viewer, and vice versa.
