Nestlé Completes Its Acquisition of Gerber Santo Domingo, Sept. 3 2007 – As a result of the successful conclusion of the regulatory process, Nestlé has completed its acquisition of Gerber, the iconic baby food brand. The August 31st acquisition will go into effect on September 1st. Consequently, the integration process will now begin as some 4,500 Gerber employees, with their experience and business knowledge, join the Nestlé Group. This is major step in Nestlé’s transformation into the world’s leading nutrition, health and wellness company. The acquisition confers upon the group the number one position in the most important baby food market in the world: the United States. It also clearly establishes Nestlé Nutrition as the global leader in this sector. The acquisition of Gerber, which comes in the wake of the Jenny Craig and Novartis Medical Nutrition purchases, transforms Nestlé Nutrition into a business approaching $10 billion Swiss francs ($8.4 billion) in sales with an expanding critical mass and access to the groups’ global Research and Development network on the path to innovation.
