Presentation of Rosa Silverio’s bookin Madrid This Sunday, April 7 at 6:00 p.m., Rosa Silverio’s book of short stories “A los delincuentes hay que matarlos(Criminals should be killed)” (Punto de lectura, 2012) will be introduced. Rosa Silverio is a Dominican writer based in Madrid, who is also known as the “Caribbean Hurricane,” as the author herself explains. The event will take place in the FNAC Callao forum and the book will be introducedby renowned Argentine writer Carlos Salem Sola. In addition, the dramatic piece “Las Sospechosas Habituales (The Usual Suspects)” will be staged. This piece has beenwritten by Rosa Silverio especially for this event and it is based on various characters from the book. The cast is composed by the following artists: Paz Hernández Páramo as Hiedra Venenosa (Poison Ivy), Sonia Betancort impersonating La Señora Mo (Lady Mo), Eusebio Priego in the role of El Hombre (The Man) and Silverio playing La Viuda Negra (the Black Widow). The director of the event will be artist Miguel Angel Hernández. Rosa Silverio was born in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic. She currently lives in Madrid, Spain. She is a journalist, writer and cultural activist. She has published the books of poems “De vuelta a casa (Homeward Bound)” (2002), “Desnuda (Naked)” (2005), “Rosa íntima (Intimate Rose)” (2007), “Selección Poética (Poetry Selection)” (2010), “Arma Letal (Lethal Weapon)” (2012) and the bilingual brochure”Rotura del tiempo / Broken time”(Carmina in laminin re, 2012). She has also published her book of short stories “A los delincuentes hay que matarlos (Criminals should be killed)” (Punto de Lectura, 2012). Her stories and poems appear in several anthologies and have been published by magazines and cultural sectionsof various countries. Her works have been translated into English, French, Italian, Portuguese and Catalan. She has received several major awards, among them the Absolute Winner of the Nosside Poetry Prize of Italy in 2005, and the National Poetry Prize of the Dominican Republic in 2011. |
