Dominican-American Cultural Center participated in the 2013 TESOL Convention in Dallas During the month of March, the Dominican-American Cultural Center participated in the Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages, Inc. (TESOL) convention, which took place in Dallas, Texas, United States. This is a global education association for teachers of English to speakers of other languages,??which has individual and institutional members worldwide, and towhich the Center is affiliated. Amiris Helena, Academic Director, and Sandra Rodríguez, Administrative Director, participated in the 2013 TESOL on behalf of the Cultural Center, … Amiris Helena, Academic Director, and Sandra Rodríguez, Administrative Director, participated in the 2013 TESOL on behalf of the Cultural Center, where they had the opportunity to attend the plenary sessions, conferences, forums and the exhibition ??by companies, universities and other institutions related to the teaching of English as a second language, all of which shall be integrated into the academic or administrative system of the Dominican-American Center, as well as into the teacher training process. There was a marked interest in PBL (Project Based Learning), in which the Dominican-American Cultural Center has beencertified by the Buck Institute for Education, whose methodology will be integrated into our academic system in the near future. In addition, they attendedthe launching of the new books for English teaching: • “BIG ENGLISH” with the author Mario Herrera, who is also the author of the series Backpack and Pocket for children, which we use at the Dominican-American Center. • “OUR WORLD” with its authors, Dr. Joann Grandall and Dr. Joan Kang Shin, of the Cengage Learning company, publisher of the books World Link and World Pass, which are used in the Junior and adultprogramsat the Dominican-American Center.
