According to the results of this report,which coversthe period up to December 31 of last year, of the total number of vehicles 51.3%are motorcycles and 22.8% are automobiles. By Province, Vehicle Type, Make and Color The 2012 Statistical Bulletin on the Dominican RepublicVehicular Fleet also provides data on the number of vehicles by Province, color and make. The classification of the vehicular fleet by province reveals that 59.8% of vehicles are distributed among the National District, Santo Domingo, Santiago de los Caballeros and La Vega; and the remaining 40.2% are located in the other provinces that make up the rest of the country. As for the type of vehicles, of the total number of automobiles, 42.4% is located in the National District, 21.82% in Santo Domingo, 10.7% in Santiago de los Caballeros, and the remaining 25% is distributed among the other provinces. Regarding buses, 41.9% of the total number is located in the National District, 19.0% in Santo Domingo,7.8% in Santiago de los Caballeros, and the remaining 31.2% is distributed among the other provinces. With respect to motorcycles, 21.1% of the total number is located in the National District, 12.6% in Santo Domingo, 7.6% in La Vega, and 58.7% is distributed among the other provinces. Of the total number of jeeps, 34.0% is in the National District, 18.4% in Santo Domingo, 13.2% in Santiago de los Caballeros, and the remaining 34.4% is distributed among the other provinces. In regard to the country of origin, the Dominican vehicular fleet is dominated by Japanese vehicles, which represent 75.7% of the total number of automobiles and 70.1% of jeeps. On the other hand, according to the color preference,in 2012 the predominant car colors were gray, white and blue, with a share of 18%, 17.2% and 16.8%, respectively. |
